Nancy's Mysterious Letter

Posted by NancyDrew996 on September 2, 2014 at 7:15 PM Comments comments (1)

Hi, I am a HUGE fan of Nancy Drew, and here is my review on 'Nancy's Mysterious Letter'.

The book starts out with Nancy driving in her convertible with Bess and George, on their way home from having just solved the mystery, 'The Clue in the Diary'.  They see Ira nixon trudging along the sidewalk, not looking so well. Nancy slows her car down and offers Ira a ride home, but he declines, (due to a rule all mail carriers must uphold) and tells her he has a letter for her all the way from England, and he'll be stopping by her house and dropping it off. So, Nancy promises him some hot cocoa and drives off.

When Nancy arrives home with Bess and George, Nancy tells Hannah that she promised Ira some cocoa, and Hannah goes off to make it, while Nancy, with Bess and George's help, unloads all the fresh fruit and vegetables from the car from their over night visit at Red Gate Farm.

The doorbell rings, and in comes Ira Nixon. He leaves his bag near the door,  and after munching on some cookies and cocoa, he begins to feel better. When he leaves to go to the door, and get his bag, it's gone!

Only the bag is there, with no letters inside. Nancy jumps into action, saying the thief couldn't have gone too far.

And that's where the mystery begins, finding the letters, finding the thief, and what that letter from England for Nancy was, and who could've sent it.

The Whispering Statue

The Whispering Statue is a very excellent book, which involves two different mysteries which in the end link up together. A whispering statue has been stolen, and Mrs. Merriam's share of money for her rare books isn't received. Nancy unveils a plot by Mr. Basswood, owner of The Basswod Art and Bookshop, and Marco De Keer, a sculptor, by working at Mr. Basswood's shop as Miss Debbie Lynbrook.

The Secret of the Old Clock

Nancy starts out this mystery as she is driving back home from delivering some important papers for her father when she witnesses a small girl being frightened and confused by a speeding van and subsequently falling off a wall. After rescuing the small girl and taking her home, Nancy is introduced to the first of many relatives who make claim that a certain favourite cousin had promised to remember them in his will, but did not carry out his promise after his passing which was strange to them.

What intrigues Nancy the most, I think in this story was the fact that this particular cousin went to live with another relative, a well-to-do family that was well known to Nancy, and not people that stood favourable in Nancy's eyes, and whose claims to this cousin's estate after his passing, turn out to be rather suspicious, once Nancy was directed to other relatives who made similar claims of being taken care of by this same man.

Of course, Nancy, being the curious sleuth she always is, was piqued by the claims of there being another will and wanted to figure out what was going on, especially since everyone she met claimed there was another will but none was ever found, and she wanted to help them all.

One thing leads to another and throughout the entire novel, the suspense builds beautifully until the end when Nancy finally solves the mystery.

This is a delightful story as always and I truly enjoyed it and I'm sure anyone else who is a fan of Nancy Drew's will too!

Nancy thinks this is going to be an easy case but she is in for a shock. While having lunch with her friends she suddenly suddenly becomes unwell and becomes unconscious. She later recieves a note saying that she has been poisoned and has only three days to find an antedote. She calls up her boyfriend, Ned who drives to New York to help her. Will she survive or not?

Well I'm not going to tell you a whole story and spoil the fun. Borrow  the book from a library, buy it in a yardsale(I got it this way) or buy the ebook from simondandschuster.com.

Hello! I am posting the book review for Nancy Drew#6 The Secret of the Red Gate Farm.

Plot:

Nancy, Bess and George encounter an odd French-Chinese perfume saleswoman, reluctant to sell a particular fragrance to Bess. On a return train trip to River Heights, they ponder her odd behavior and encounter the malnourished Joanna, on her way to the River heights to seek employment. Joanna becomes acquainted with the girls, and when Nancy accompanies her to a job interview, Nancy uncovers a mysterious code in the office. Joanna's grandmother, owner of Red Gate Farm, welcomes the trio and Joanna to her farm where they plan to vacation as paid boarders, and assist with waiting on other boarders. On the farm, Nancy uncovers a group called The Black Snake Colony -- a "nature cult" -- who are tenants on a portion of Mrs. Byrd's farm. Accused of passing counterfeit money, Nancy shares details of the odd colony and the codes obtained in the office building with Federal agents. Nancy, Bess, George, and Joanna go undercover disguised in the white robes and hoods worn by the cult members, and join them in their cave hideaway!
